A public health crisis — Profits over patient safety

by | Jan 17, 2025 | Firm News |

In Delaware County, Pennsylvania a local hospital closes again. While this effects local residents’ ability to secure health care, it is more disruptive to the nurses, pharmacists, and physicians working there. Health care workers are workers too. However, these health care workers become worried about their jobs, their paychecks, and become distracted from basic and complex patient care issues. This for profit hospital takes advantage of these workers, increases the hospital census and decreases staffing levels to make a profit. It over works every health care provider at patient safety expenses. The hospital then blames issues and mistakes on the health care workers and files reports with the Department of Health, State Boards of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Osteopathic Medicine — to name a few.
